Mortise Lock

A mortise lock is a type of lock that is installed in a door and requires a rectangular hole, or mortise, to be cut into the edge of the door to accommodate the lock body. The lock body is typically enclosed in a rectangular metal case, which is inserted into the mortise hole in the door and secured with screws. A mortise lock usually consists of a latch, a deadbolt, and a locking mechanism.
